Fine Gardening Assistant
Locally owned gardening business seeking unique and motivated individual to assist in all areas of fine gardening in the downtown Charleston, Kiawah, Old Village, and Sullivan’s Island areas.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Excellent knowledge of Southern plants with particular regard to flowering annuals/perennials and mixed shrub borders.
• Able to properly design and install flower garden beds, container gardens, window boxes, and hanging baskets with seasonal color. Talented in garden design with regard to plant selection meeting the needs of both the site conditions and client’s aesthetic. Capable of garden design duties to include: sourcing and purchasing correct plant and quantity of materials for a project; organizing transport of all materials to a project site with minimal supervision. Competent to make correct horticultural decisions in a timely manner with regard to plant placement within the landscape.
• Ensuring correct installation practices are maintained throughout project.
• Experienced in garden maintenance practices for seasonal container gardens, mixed garden beds, small courtyard gardens, herb/vegetable gardens, and rooftop gardens. Excellent garden maintenance knowledge to include: proper watering techniques, pruning practices, sanitation practices, fertilization schedules, and pest/disease treatment programs.
• Able to manage an irrigation timeclock to include adjustment of watering days/times/program schedules. Ability to run a systems test preferred. Capable to install spaghetti line drip tubing properly thru planters. Skilled to make minor irrigation tubing repairs to include drip tube repairs and connector repairs.
• Able to identify common insect pests/diseases and apply proper treatment as necessary.
• Able to maintain excellent health and longevity of indoor houseplants and orchids.
• Must possess excellent customer service skills and able to communicate with tact and diplomacy.
• Valid SC Driver’s License and good driving record required.
• Hourly wage negotiable and based on level of experience.
